To initiate with the TP-Link extender setup through the web browser, you need to have a working router and computer to configure your device. Keep the SSID and password with you for the setup of your extender device. Here’s the steps:

Step 1: Firstly, turn on your computer, modem or router before connecting your device to the TP-Link extender. Make sure that your modem is connected to the WAN port of the router using the Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Connect your computer with the LAN port of the TP-Link extender using the Ethernet cable. Switch on your computer and extender. After some time, turn on your router and modem.

Step 3: In the next step, launch any web browser of your choice such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari from your device.

Step 4: Type tplinkextender.net in the address bar of the web browser to log in the web access page of the TP-Link extender setup. Click on the enter button.

Step 5: The IP address may be different for different model numbers. You need to search for the web access at the bottom of the label of your product number. Most commonly used default IP address is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. You can also type the IP address in the address bar to log in to your TP-Link extender device.

Step 6: Enter the default username and password in the given space. Both the default username and password is “admin”. In case, you have changed the default username and password then use the changed one.

Step 7: At last, check the WiFi light signals on your extender device whether it is solid or not. If the solid LED light blinks on it then it means that your device is configured and connected successfully.

Method 2: Through WPS Method

Follow the below steps for TP-Link extender setup using WPS button:

Step 1: For the TP-Link extender setup, you firstly need to place your extender in the same room in which you have placed your router. If you want to set up your extender fastly, then place your router and extender within the range of 5-10 feet.

Step 2: Plug-in your extender to the power socket and turn on the TP-Link extender. Now, you have to wait for some time until the power LED light starts blinking or become stable.

Step 3: Press the WPS button on your extender and within the two minutes, press the WPS button on the router. You will see that the LED light on both of the devices start blinking.

Step 4: The whole process takes 10-15 seconds to establish a secure connection between router and extender. Once the connection has been established successfully, the WPS Led light on your router stops blinking and the WPS LED on the extender will turn to solid. Repeat the whole process again for 5GHz if your extender and router supports the dual-band.

Step 5: If the WPS button on the router does not work or disabled and you are unable to login to the router then you need to go to the wireless setting and then click on the WPS settings. Enable the WPS option.

Step 6: Unplug your TP-Link extender and place it halfway between your router and the place where you face a dead spot.
